Re: Document for Defense of Sevastopol medal

At first glance, I personally don't like the pencil-thin ink and the V/Ch. This early in '43 units typically wrote out their full designations.

I can't tell a lot from the photo, but I would pass on this one.

Re: Document for Defense of Sevastopol medal

RocketScientist,

I tend to believe that the base document is actually scanned and home-printed. On an original, the edge of the letters and ornamentation is not edgy as it shows here.
Also, how can a 1943 document have a 15 or 16 republic (can't count them for sure, but there are definitely more than 11 ribbons here!) stamp on it? :laff

Re: Document for Defense of Sevastopol medal

I thank you for your valuable opinions that confirmed my initial impression. Unfortunately most of these details of the poor printing and the wrong stamp become visible only by means of a high resolution scan of the award. :dissapoint

cheers

The forger actually got the 11 ribbon part correct. I didn't say anything about the rough letters b/c I didn't know if it was caused by digital pixelation, otherwise I agree with you.

Re: For the Defense of Leningrad

This is my Defense of Leningrad award certificate. The name of the awarded person is faded away, only few letters can be identified with some manipulation of the scanned image. This is from the same vendor as the amazing fake of the defense of sevastopol I posted in the relevant topic. Because of this, I fear that also this certificate might be counterfeit, even if I must say it gives a much better impression at the first glance.

Once more, thank you in advance for your opinions.
ciao.

No comparison between the two. Compare the crispness of the printed letters, ink that looks like it's 60+ years old, and real wear. Nice one.

Document defense of the Caucasus

Here some details from a Defense of Caucasus certificate. It seems ok to me, but after the bad experience with a home made sewastopol, I am scared of everything!
Thank you for your opinions.
cheers
