Re: Fake Orders of the Red Star

Hi Guys, this one is up for sale with a Bravery medal and the award book. The other items look fine, but the real concern here is the serial number. What do you think to the style? It looks odd to me? I only have this one pic. My worry is it has been re-numbered and a false patina added to cover it up.

Cheers, Ade.

Re: Fake Orders of the Red Star

It's an MZPP variation which accounts for the strange style of the engraving of the serial number you mention and it appears the screw post has been reattached/rewelded rather crudely. The discoloration is, I believe, and based on the photograph, evidence of the reheating of the metal in the resoldering process.

Here is 2183645 for comparison. . .

Re: Fake Orders of the Red Star

I have some pictures in this serial number range were around the base of the screw is some solder. More than normally.

Maybe it is a characteristicum in this serial number range and the screw was not resoldered. But just a guess.

best regards
Andreas

Thanks Guys, much appreciated.

Hi Guys, I have taken another look at this star.

Checkout the pic again and blow it up. It looks like it has been re-numbered?It appears there is a small number "55" just to the right of the number. Am I right or seeing things?

Cheers, Ade.

Re: Fake Orders of the Red Star

Hello.
I am tempted to enter negotiations with the seller for this ORS.
The writing of the serial number looks a bit odd to me, I would like to read your opinions, please.

Thanks!
ciao
Sergio

Re: Fake Orders of the Red Star

Sergio, I like it. I have attached a couple of scans. 101187 & 105251 which are in numerical proximity either side of the example you have shown here. Note the similarities of the engraving style, disposition of the mint mark, screw post base, and so on. If the price is right I would add it to the collection in a heart beat.

And still another example is fairly close proximity, 100919, illustrating what you term "odd writing". . . Photographs/scans used with permission. . .
