Badge "1500 Years Of Tbilisi".
Here is the Badge "1500 Years Of Tbilisi". Dating from 1979 (only a year after the civil disorder) and made from heavy brass and hard enamel.
The 1500th anniversary of Tbilisi was a rather subdued event after the nationalist riots of 1978 caused by dispute over the legal status of languages in the GSSR. It would seem the 1500th anniversary under any other circumstances would have deserved a Medal similar to Moscow, Leningrad and Kiev. If the anniversary had occurred in 1948 the story would have been rather different. At the same time it is interesting in as much as the Georgian language disputes were so problematic that Brezhnev didn't enact a Medal to award himself.
