Here's my new one, just in from Onkle Pavlo. It's a 1978 Socialist Competition winner's badge document. I know these aren't considered particularly sexy but is a Sovier award doc and as such I feel a strong compulsion to aquire and hoard! :p
Also, it's awarded to a Georgian presumably by the Georgian SSR authorities for some good hard work and relatively clean living. I just can't get over the Georgian alphabet...I thought Cyrillic was tough to decode.:D

I also have the desire to hoard these documents. It is possible to pick up a wide variety of recipients for a small investment. I have awards ranging from a milkmaid to a scientist. None in other than Cyrillic though.

These awards are so very common, I wonder how many each year were awarded? The documents...obviously roughly the same number were handed out, and probably more docs than awards themselves were lost over the years but I tell ya, I cannot find these on eBay at all (and I do at least two different document searches every day). Are they so unsexy that the Russian sellers don't even bother to list them? Not that I'd pay big bucks for them but if they were listed cheap I'd bid on more than a few of them.

Probably shouldn't tell you this as it means competition for me but if you want more of these documents I suggest you search using Russian or Soviet Badges on Eb*y. I regularly see badges and documents using that search. You have to sift through a lot of hits but they are in there.

P.S. Prices seem to vary between about $3 (badge or document alone) and $10 (usually badge with document).
