It’s a trade union badge for the VSRM, Vsyerossiyckiy Soyuz Rabochikh Metallistov. (Allrussian union of metal workers(…?)) Part from the translation that is what I think it is. Number 341 in AVERS 2, they said 1926 but have been wrong before. Hope that helps. Don’t think that 1917 is the year of manufacture. I saw your badge on a Russian seller site. They clam it's a 10 year celebration badge for the VSRM. That would make it made in 1927.

Thanks Kim that would make sense. It's definitely genuine and not a fantasy badge...could you PM the URL of the Russian site.

Much appreciated for your help with it's id.

The badge is different...wow...but close...the flag is in a different direction and a few other points.

Look closely.

This is one crazy hobby.

The direction of the flag.

No writing underneath

Different brickwork on the Kiln

Different position of left hand and torch?

Chris,

Yours looks better than the one on the site. Maybe the one on the site is a silver variation or maybe a fake.

Guilty of not paying enough attention:o

But they are close aren't they. Same union but perhaps awarded/bought for diffrent reasons.

Same ...........but.........

Kim

At first I thought they had posted a reverse image, until I used a reference point on the badge and realised...........holy...####.

How can a badge be so similar but so different.

And yes Shawn....it is silver and mine is brass/silver finished, it could be another variation but it does not make sense (to me).

I think this is a fairly rare badge so there is little info on it.

I believe mine is 100 percent genuine as for the other........... it so strange to fake a badge and get it so wrong.

I am still amazed by it

Regards Chris

There seems to be a growing tendency to make fakes versions of genuine badges but to make the fakes out of precious metals... Maybe they think we are all really stupid and will believe that if it is genuine silver it must be a genuine badge.
