Re: Fake "Capture Of" campaign medal documents

Same question about this recently purched Budapest; anything wrong? This one's been trimmed down a bit, probably to eliminate edge wear. Do you think the two hole punches affect it's overall value much?

Re: Fake "Capture Of" campaign medal documents

Eric,

I don't see anything criminal here with any of them.

As to the punch holes, let me answer you with a question: would a hole in your Budapest medal affect its value? ;)

Maybe if it was just a little hole? :) Ah well, live and learn. Only a $20+ investment.

Re. the missing Koenigsberg stamp; just an oversight at the office?

Re: Fake "Capture Of" campaign medal documents

I tried to catch the faded color or even the indentations of the metal from the stamp on the paper, but I don't see anything in the photos.

It could have been a local rubber stamp that was used and the ink faded, but I can't tell from just these photos (and no insult to your photographic skills - you are still "the man" when it comes to photos).

Re: Fake "Capture Of" campaign medal documents

Nope. No indication at all that there was any sort of stamping activity anywhere on or around this booklet at any time. :)

Re: Fake "Capture Of" campaign medal documents

I don't think the lack of a stamp is a great worry. I have a small number of documents purchased from impeccable sources that are similarly lacking the stamp. I think it can just be put down to administrative oversight, in a similar manner to the instances where I have two documents for the same individual.

Re: Fake "Capture Of" campaign medal documents

I can see some low level, third-shift assistant-clark missing a stamp (or ten) when he stepped out for just a tot or two of vodka. What I don't see is him writing the same frontnovik's name twice on a document.
Then again I, myself, have done some unexplainable things under the influence of said demon drink....a certain dusky gal from Bangkok comes to mind (a real crossway-breezer, she) but that's a story for another forum...

So....legit, I'd hope, this booklet could be? But with enough issues to make it worth less than 100%.

Re: Fake "Capture Of" campaign medal documents

Gents, got this CoB today as part of a group (see others elsewhere shortly). I've no doubts about this but just need a :thumbsup to help me sleep better tonight.
Also, help with the name and any other handwritten or stamped details if you'd be so kind?
Many thanks in advance.
