Generals to identify
No, this is no contest.
I have recently acquired 2 pictures which were made more or less at the same time (most likely the same day), probably during some official visit of the Soviet Army Delegation in Poland in 50's or 60's (at least that's what generals' uniforms would suggest). I am pretty sure it's not 1956... I am trying to get as much information on this as possible, so, here go: 1.Picture taken at some memorial site - may be Unknown Soldier's Tomb in Warsaw, but can as well by any war memorial or Red Army cemetery in Poland. In the centre there's MSU that I have failed to recognise and on his left - someone who looks a bit like Khrushchev. Can anyone identify any of the generals (or the admiral) on this picture, or at least the marshal? 2.Picture taken during some official meeting. The banner says: "[?????? of] Soviet and Polish Soldiers". The polish lt. colonel is shaking hand of a soviet marshal (most likely MSU as well). I know it may be hard, but can anyone identify this marshal? or the general to the right? Last edited by CtahhR; 02-18-2014 at 01:24 AM. Reason: pictures |

Thanks!
I have only seen early pictures of him, so I would never guess it's him. Is there any chance that it's Khrushchev to his right? After all, Malinovskiy bicame MOD during his rule, unless I am mistaken. I may try to make closeup of the faces if that can help. |

No, that general is not Khrushchev...looks like him, but I think its just the look. I do not know of any time that Krushchev would have worn his uniform at this late date. -dd

You are probably right. I have made a close-up and he no longer look that much similar. However, I would say he must be someone important if he stays so close to Malino, with all the lower-rank officers behind them....
Maybe this closeup helps... |
