tunic

The same guy had 2 M1945 tunics that also needed this type of restoration and I passed on those; but the M1943 parade items are so much rarer that I just could not give up on it without trying.

Do you know the General who the tunic belonged to? How much do you think it will be worth when it is restored ? As you rightly point out, these are so rare it would be a shame to let it be binned.

general

No way to trace it; uniforms given to film studios are so altered as to make their history moot. As for value, really difficult to say. I guess alot depends on how well the restoration goes.

This just goes to show you how rare these tunics are. For someone to even attempt a restoration on a uniform in this condition speaks volumes to me. I hope it goes well Doug. I will be interested in seeing the completed work.

restoration

Well, I found a nice older Polish lady that does alterations and she has agreed to try the job out. She is odd, but I have been told she is really dedicated to projects once she gets going, and works with local tailors and cleaners. So, at least the first step is taken!

I hope to have updates in a few months.
