Badge "Honoured Member Of State Security".
Guys,
You don't see them very often, so I thought I'd share... Alexei |

An earlier document for this same badge, with nice photo showing it in wear.

Badge Mongolia - what for ?
Hello everybody,
here we have a badge which is for sale now. Does anybody know, if it is genuine, what it had been given for and how much I do have to expect to pay for it ? Thank you, Jens* |

Re: Fake Academy Badges
I believe it's genuine. As for the price, I have just sold here on the forum an identical piece in a slightly better condition for $1450.

Re: Fake Academy Badges
Other than the gold plating and subtle differences in the ground under the rider, what are the differences in the two types of this badge? In Battushig it looks like the first type is slightly larger - based on proportions of screw nut to reverse size.

Re: Badge of the Honored Member of State Security.
And here an early documented one nr 94
Awarded to Jamsran in July 1937. The document has certainly not been safe in a drawer throughout its life. The photo of the recipient is removed. It appears that the writing on the booklet has been restored (perhaps the original inscription faded and the bearer himself restored the writing). The writing on the doc says: "Jamsran is awarded the Honorary badge of Ministry of Internal Affairs for successful participation in the struggle to suppress the anti-revolutionaries". The doc has the original stamp of the ministry of Internal affairs and date and number of the decree |

Re: Badge of the Honored Member of State Security.
To summarise what I know (and apologies for possible duplication). I am not including the Dotood Yam Badge (Battushig D02). I think maybe it should be a new type 1?
Type 1 -- Reverse with 3 maker’s marks, serial number “No” -- observed range Low = 5 / High =975 Battushig listed this as two varieties (D03a and D03b) based on the gilt/silver distinction. He now admits this was in error and that the "gilt" / "silver" distinction is merely a function of the state of the survival of a rather thin and fragile gilt coating. Here's a cased and documented set, #393. A 1973 award. I previously showed earlier (1954) and later (1982) documents for this badge. |
