Description:
YOU ARE BIDDING ON THE 100% GENUINE MODEL 1922 Russian early Soviet gymnasterka tunic . This cotton tunic has collar tabs with metal Armor insignia and regiment number as "4" . It also has breast tabs, an Armor branch arm patch and Regimental Commander lower sleeve patch. The stamp on inside clearly says "RSFSR , star, 1922" and is consistent with same period stamps as pictured in referrence books. Superb original condition, the tunic is a bit faded, but has no mothe holes or repairs. Needless to say, any early tunic in such condition is extremely rare, but I hardly doubt you will be able to have a chance to obtain another ARMOR BRANCH COMMANDER'S tunic, since this might be the only one available outside of major Russian museums. Great item for an advanced Russian uniform collector

I can't say anything about real/fake for this tunic. But the other stuff a seller has says alot about his buisness methods. This guy also has a bad budenovka that is 100% bad. A SSh-36 helmet that could be ok, but I would not buy it from him based only on Internet photos. So I would be very carefull with his stuff...

Personally, I don't think a person in their right mind would put something like this on E! unless it has "issues".
There are far better outlets to sell these kinds of items than E!. Just my thoughts... Rusty.

pullover
There really is nothing wrong with it that i can see.
You can't condemn it simply because its on E; Russian Civial War items are aimed at a very limited colleting field, trust me. I have dealt in Russian uniforms for 7 years and have sold WWII and post war uniforms to over 300 people. I have sold Civil War items to 3 people. Its a very narrow market, and he might have a very difficult time finding a buyer. DougD |

value
VERY difficult to value 1917-1922 items. I have sold a few like this in the range of $500 to $750. This one is in good shape and has nice embroidered branch insignia, stamp, etc. So, To a collector it could go for $600 or so; just a ballpark figure though.
Its still a narrow collecting field though. Its on E which tells me the seller does not have alot of buyers/contacts so it could go for as low as $400. DougD |

Thank you Doug.
I thought it might fetch quite a bit more because of it time period... In that price range I would actually would consider purchasing it. I'll contact the seller to see what he's looking to get for it... Thanks! Rusty.

I would have to look up the arcana of early Soviet uniforms, but if I recall correctly the peaked cap was not officially introduced until 1924 and the only official summer hat with the M1922 uniforms was the cloth budenny (the one with front and aft peaks known as the hello-goodbye).
This would be expected to match the tunic fabric. As for cloth star colour - would have to look it up but it is likely same as the cloth patch background. Shawn |
