Re: Fake Orders of the Red Star

Arrived this week. Personally, I like it. Nevertheless, it has some feature I'd never seen before (like the protruding screwpost). Could you please have a look and let me know your opinions?

Grazie
ciao
sergio

Re: Fake Orders of the Red Star

I have mixed feelings about this Red Star for a number of reasons. Red Stars in this series, or at least the ones I have seen, have a curved up mint mark. I expected to see the screw-post set in a recess on the reverse, or no recess at all. I don't particularly like the style of the engraving of the serial number. I am posting some examples in fairly close proximity, both before and after, to this serial number to highlight these characteristics, variations, and for comparison. These are just my personal observations. Please, for your sake, I hope someone makes a liar out of me. . .

I don't think anyone will make a liar out of you, what you say is quite convincing, unfortunately. :banghead
Thanks

Fake Orders of the Red Star

Hi! I have a badge that I am trying to find out if it's authentic or not. My Grandfather had it in his footlocker. According to the Serial Number it belonged to Leonid Solodkov, and wasn the last one awarded in ceremony... S/N 11664
I have uploaded two photos. I'd be grateful for any insight!
Thanks!
Elizabeth

Wow, thats a rare piece Elizabeth! I don't see any problems but lets wait what the experts have to say.

Anyway, if it is original, you've got a wonderful piece!

Re: Fake Orders of the Red Star

These photos are just horrible, possibly done with a cheap mobile phone's camera.
In all cases, I would pass this one.

cheers

Re: Fake Orders of the Red Star

the surface of the "enamel" is definitley not right, it looks like some sort of plastic resin.
The writing on the medallion is also wrong for this Serial# Range. The tip of the bayonet should be in line with the centre of the "O" not in line with the back of the "E".

The bayonet in line with the "E" is concurrent with later types (produced circa 1952 onwards, looking at Soviet Screwbacks dates of production).

Perhaps it was an early piece which had all the enamel knocked off and someone has replaced the Medallion with one from a later piece and tried to re-enamel it?

Perhaps its just all fake.

I'd definitley say it's not "right"
