These really are solid pieces. More in line with the production values of an Order than a Commemorative Badge - you won't find these floating on a breeze.

Indeed, they appear to be of brass construction, not plated aluminum. A veteran of a hard life, the suspension ring has been replaced with wire and the reverse pin has broken off on this example.
