Banner Of Labour Case.
Hello,
this case definately belongs to a soviet order, but I do not know at all for which one. It measures 14,5 x 7,5 x 2,5 cm and has a red cloth stripe at it`s back for stability reasons. It is stuffed with black and white cloth as can be seen at the images added to this thread. Does anybody know, what it has been for ? Thank you very much, Jens |

Re: Help wanted: Unknown case
I think it is for the award "BANNER DER ARBEIT" (Banner of Labor) of the GDR (DDR). I have a boxful of these cased awards and they have the same measurements. Maybe DDR used the same cases for other awards, I don't know.

Banner der Arbeit
Hi to all!
I am not sure if this is the right place for this thread so I`m sorry if it isn`t. Now, some time ago I got a East German Banner der arbeit order and I would like to ask you guys if it is original or fake because I paid next to nothing for it so I don`t know if I was smart or dumb.:( Thanks

Re: Banner der Arbeit
These are worth next to nothing due to the sheer numbers in existence.
This situation was compounded in the '90s after the DDR by the manufacture of lots of pieces using I believe original dies to sell to slews of tourists wanting to bring something back from the DDR. I haven't been following DDR stuff as closely, but even if real, a late issue or "post issue"(?) DDR Red Banner of Labor isn't worth much. |

Re: Banner der Arbeit
it is genuine. TRy to look if it is enamel (cold, hard and perfectly polished) ou epoxy (softer , sensible to high temperature like exposition to the sun) to determine if it is early or late 80ies.

Re: Banner der Arbeit
Nice. I am thinking of picking one of these up. Nice t know they are not super valuable so I don't pay through the nose.

Re: Banner der Arbeit
If you stay in single figures with delivery you can't complain. I once saw one of these down Portobello Road for £125 - Not the biggest rip off there but it certainly made me laugh! I have one of these in it's original case which I paid around $5 for. Obviously worth far more with the correct documents etc..
