3 Revolutions Red Banner Order.
I've just received these two badges in the mail today. One is the Order of 3 Revolutions, and the other is if I am not mistaken an Order of Labour. First, here is the Order of 3 Revolutions.

Roy,
Do these feel flimsy and cheap? Thanks! Rusty.

You hit the nail on the head. They actually do feel kind of cheap, almost has an aluminum feel to it. I've got a couple of smaller orders that have the same feel. For what I paid, I really cannot complain, though later on I may add a couple of Soviet/Czech made pieces to round out my North Korea collection. |

I also have a couple of these NK Orders, the 3 Revolutions one and another I can't remember the name (there's a soldier with a flag on the center).
They are quite heavy, but I have no idea what's the metal they used. Anyway, it looks a cheap metal (It seems as if they were kind of very poor quality silver plated, or could it be aluminium?), with a tendency to get rust on the reverse :( Nice obverses thought, but the quality can't be compared to the Soviet or Mongolian Orders! Just my two cents, Dolf |

The earlier variations, which are of course more expensive, are silver Soviet mint made screwbacks and are definitely more attractive.
But at about 10 times the price of a later pinback...:yow Apparantly there are also horizontal pinback types that are much rarer than the vertical pinbacks, but I don't know what quality they are Jan |

Seems like lately there's a ton of these listed out of China!
Makes me wonder... Chinese ingenuity at work? :yow Rusty.

Early silver Soviet / Chekh made variations are very nicely made, of high quality, they tend to be rare and expensive.
Later Korean made pieces are made from cheap alloys and look OK from the distance. But when one takes then in his hands - you see that Koreans are frugal about the awards. Actually the quality went donw in the 70-80s. Earlier Korean made look much better. As for availability - late variations are quite common and are easy to find. William |

What year was the Order of the 3 revolutions instituted? The NJ seller has one from "circa 1980-ties" but I assume the award generally is older than that?

Hi, Tretov
The slogan of 3 great revolutions is put forward by Kim Il Sun in 1970. But there is no definate reference refer the introduce date of this order. Tang Si |

Those "3 Revolutions" do really exist? As I know (very little), there were no such thing as revolutions who started the communist government in NK; so I assume is just one of the many alterations of their own history that the Kims have made.
However, if they did existed, what did they stand for?
