Hi Shawn,

Thanks. That's what I guessed, as some seem really well - and "professionally" - made.

Looks like piece custom made by a soldier (dembel).

Can't it be some internal KOMSOMOŁ badge/medal? That "komsomol pin" in front seems to be part of the "star", not something attached with use of high temperature etc.
But I am not an expert.

Rocket Service Komsomol badge

Here is a nice example of the "home made" badges found from different military units. This one is no doubt from a member of the missile service.

Marc,

I know it is a dembel badge, that is what I meant by "home made". Sorry if my meaning was not clear. I have managed to find a nice array of these badges, clearly demobilising conscripts had too much time on their hands !

Regards,

Paul

Pin has nothing to do with missiles!

Soldier had nothing to do, and made this from brass.
Example, what can be done: see movie "Девятая Рота". Remember, what soldier had made out of C-4(plastic explosive)???

Re: ID on a Komsomol Badge

I’m agree, its army art. The brightness of red color depends to komsomol badge producer.
