Lingqi. Just based on your info, I would guess that it's kosher, although the price is high. I wouldn't pay more than half that really.

Welcome to the Forum.

According to PMD, with such a high S/N, that piece should be from the last variation of Type 2.
Pieces like that one (without the booklet) can easily be found for $15-$30 !
Does the booklet worth $120-$135 ?!... :eek:
Also, I wonder if a piece with that S/N can really be from 1943!
There is one for sale now from a well known NJ dealer, with a lower S/N (1,982xxx) with a booklet, for $120, and this one is from circa 1945...
And we all know that this dealer sells most of his stuff for higher prices than most dealers, so... :rolleyes:

The serial number seemed high to me for a 1943 date, but doesn't the date inside refer to when the acts were done to merit the award? For example, perhaps he earned the ORS in 1943, but was not actually conferred with it until 1945?

Not sure about that.
I always thought that the date on the booklet was the date when the actual Award was given to the recipient, but maybe I'm wrong! :confused:

Maybe another member among those experts on Docs coulf help clarify this.

Thanks, guys. The dealer said the pictures are not available at the moment. Anyway, I bought another one, cost me AU$60(roughly US$48), the orders of USSR in Melbourne are so expensive. I still have not been used to identify the style of S/N, is it 2434875 or 2634875 ? By the way, the post device is original or replaced? I also saw a post device of RS (S/N 213xxxx) is purely flat from another dealer, have anyone seen the flat post device before? A lot of questions, sorry, I just start collecting these stuff recently.

The screwpost looks original, not replaced. There are no weld marks around the base of the post that would look out of place on this piece, so probably real. The serial number is 2634875.

The number is 2,634,xxx. Sometimes it can get a bit confusing with the way the numbers were cut.

As far as the screwplate, if by flat you mean it doesnt have the 2 bumps, I think a bumpless screwplate would be a replacement. I think I have a dozen or so ORS, and most of them have old-looking screwplates with bumps. The one or two flat ones I have are kinda new-looking, leading me to believe that those are replacements.

At any rate, this is a nice ORS. The ORS was the first Soviet order I ever got, and it is still my favorite.

I would like to show you a few of my awards, first my two orders of the red star. I would like to hear a few comments regarding when and for what were they awarded and if someone could read me the serials correctly because I'm thinking of researching them.

Hello Mark,

i can´t read the serialnumber properly. Could you add them?

To research: Many of the Red Stars in this serialnumber-range are given for 15 years service. You could research your Orders of Glory, they were real combat-awards and you will probably get an interesting citation. The same goes for Orders of the Great Patriotic War.

I think the serials are 2640118 and 2737362.
