Ushanka? Need help!
Hi,
I want to buy a genuine unused blue-grey soviet era ushanka from the eighties, like this one (picture from wikipedia): 450px-Ushanka_of_Soldier_of_Soviet_Army-5.jpg I have been searching the internet for a few days but the offers are a little bit confusing. I have the impression that a lot of sellers just put some kind of badge on a ushanka to make it look as if it's from the soviet era. I don't know what to look for exactly, any help is greatly appeciated! A few questions I have: 1.) Is the supply for unused, genuine blue-grey soviet era ushankas (ushanki?) from the eighties rather big or small? 2.) What would be a fair price for such a piece (size 59 to 62)? 3.) What sizes where issued [ (...58...59...60...61...62) or just (...58...60...62...) ] ? 3.) What do I have to look for to distinguish the real ones from fakes? Here's an example I found from a seller from the Ukraine, I think he sells via ebay too: Image2.jpg Sizes available from this dealer are S(54), M(56), L(58) and XL(60). Does this one look real? Price (including shipping) would be 25$ (I live in Germany). |

Re: Ushanka? Need help!
25 USD including shipping is a good price. Another dealer ;) would charge 50 USD excluding shipping for an unissued ushanka, given it would be with an officers badge instead of the simple star.

Re: Ushanka? Need help!
Is the seller Soviet-Power?
If so, he has pretty nice Ushanka. I bought from him once and highly reccomend him! :D Very nice and warm ushanka, a little hard to make the ears come down and STAY down without curling upwards. Otherwise, nice stuff. I also bought direct from Russia a year ago, it seemed original, everything it came with was and it had a 62 stamp inside, while Soviet-Power had a picture of a bunny stamped inside with some writing. Still nice. Besides, if you want an officers cockarde they are on sale in the Ukrainian store for only like...2 bucks I think...I dunno, shop around. :D Totally worth it though. Then again I'm just a beginner so wait for somebody with more...insight. |
