Depends on how long he extended...

Paul,

In the 1980s it was not unusual for a soldier, serving his 2 year term, to make 20+ jumps. A friend of mine had 28.

I don't doubt it, it's situationally dependent. I'm sure the paratroopers in Afghanistan got significantly fewer jumps than those in a peactime formation. My experience was largely with paratroopers from the late 90's and 00's when Russia and the military were not as well resourced. I also said there officers had significantly more than ours since they had been jumping throughout their cadet time too.

Paul,

I am surprised they jumped at all in those times.

BTW, since we are on the subject, has anybody seen a badge with more than 1000 jumps?

Is it possible to re-search a 1931 Para badge from the serial number?

Cheers, Ade.

Thanks for the reply. I supected that might be the answer, but I just wanted to make sure.

I thought that I would share a pic of the badge.

Here is the reverse. Is the screwback OK for this badge? This is how it came.

Cheers, Ade.

Ade,

As far as I can tell the badge is genuine, but I have doubts about the screwplate.

Screwback is not period - looks like DDR East German.
