Re: Cemetaries And Military Memorials.

And here's an interesting cemetary for Georgians who fought against the Germans on the Eastern Front as part of the Red Army, then sided with the Germans and were based on the island of Texel (in the North Sea, close to the Netherlands) before again fighting against the Germans along with Dutch partisans. The fighting continued until late May 1945 (making it the last battle of WW2?). I don't have pics with me but did visit the cemetary 12-13 years ago - felt very 'out of place' on that Dutch island but history chose otherwise. There's also a small museum (with limited opening times, during the summer only I believe).

Re: Cemetaries And Military Memorials.

The Battle of Odžak raged for 5 days longer.

There is a reasonable film about the uprising on Texel, "De Vliegenierster Van Kazbek". The 20 year old Madelief Blanken seems to be naked for a good proportion of it for no reason, which some may see as an incentive to watching it.
