Red Banner,033066,Commander,7th Battery,3rd Division

Thank you very much anyway - even, if he seems to be unresearchable :)

A nice catch for 1300,- € :)

Re: Red Banner.

€1,300 would seem well over the heavier end in this buyer's market but at least you can get the award card for only $20 now! Research always adds value.

Re: Red Banner.

Hi guys,

thanky for feedback. 1300,-€ are no peanuts, of course. But for a Red Banner within this serial number range and this great condition of the enamel it is quite cheap, I think!?

With best regards.

Re: Red Banner.

I think €800 would be a "better" price. I've been looking for a screwback this year (and I will get one before this year is out - specially as prices continue to drop). I've been making enquiries and I was offered one a little while ago (engraved serial) with a little bit of enamel damage, $500. Typically that week I had just had to cough up $1600 for something else so I'll wait until next time.

Maybe in two or three months I'll get another offer, probably cheaper as the situation gets more desperate but this is most certainly a buyer's market. With more and more direct internet access closer to "source" it is getting ever easier to cut out the middle man on many deals too and get the very best prices. Red Stars were at one point almost unobtainable at $75 but now you can get researched ones for that or less - undocumented Red Stars for under $40 each, with more on the market every day (until Bill wakes up any way!).

This is one of those markets, like the stock and money markets, where you have to keep very up to date with the global situation. With research coming down to only $20 a record card too, even researched awards are becoming less expensive to obtain.

Re: Red Banner.

Hi and thank you very much for your opinion,

I think there are only two factors, which define the value of an award:

1. It`s general condition; especially enamel
2. It`s story behind

Of course I am able too to buy Red Banners screwback for 450,- € each, given for "uninterrupted supply of fuel" or for "being a good political agitator at the front line" with bad enamel - but in my opinion, they are just waste of money. If an award was given to a brave tankist for blowing up several enemy tanks, or an anti-tank-gunner, responsible for holding the own lines for some hours without being supported from other units, or if it is just in very good condition, I will pay a lot more.

I think you will find more people that disagree with you there than agree.

At the end of the day if you're happy with your purchase that is all that matters. You may not be happy when it is time to sell but the time in-between is what matters to you personally.

The $500 I intend to shell out will be for a completely unresearched piece and I'll be happy no matter what results research brings. Everyone must remember that these were awarded for feats the State deemed to be of equal value. History's opinion of what the better citation is can vary with the winds.

I think the reason for the price drop is the drop of currency exchange rates of ruble that sank this year and 1,000$ became 500$. For the above specimen I think 1,300 euro a little bit expensive, but still in the range.
The name of the owner of the award is Sinenko Vladimir Fedoseevich.

Re: Red Banner,033066,Commander,7th Battery,3rd Division

Never mind - I already got the citation:

"In the battle for the villages of Opsala and Padrila battery commander senior lieutenant Sinenko showed bravery and courage, his battery was known throughout the 80th rifle division, calling his fighters "sinsnkovuy." Senior lieutenant Sinenko has always been a company and battalion commander and after a year 12.17.1941 / t. offensive comrade Sinenko with one platoon commander of the 2/218 rifle korps first entered the village Opsala. Our infantry was not allowed to move due to the fire of two bunkers located beneath a cattle yard; adjust fire prevented front facing of house, Comrade Sinenko crawled, breaking through a snowy pass, staying 100 meters away from the bunkers, opened fire and with the twelfth shell, the bunkers were destroyed.
...
Comrade Sinenko as master of artillery fire, was able to smash three warehouses with ammunition, destroyed a mortar battery, two 75mm guns, one anti-aircraft gun and smashed an infantry column, sent as reinforcements.
...
Comrade Sinenko on 17. January was wounded from a strong blow he fell into the river Mga; but so far has not withdrawn from the observation post because he did not broke bunkers, which prevented the progress of 1./435 rifle regiment."

Great commander!

Here's the paperwork - more important than enamel.
