Short description of personal combat feat or accomplishment
During offensive operations on the river Narew on 24th June 1944 in the region of the city of Ostrołęka, Belostok Oblast, commander of the Headquarters signal platoon Lieutenant Jakers has provided continuous telephone communications between the regimental commander’s observation post and his battalions.
During an enemy armoured counter-attack near the villages of Rabeldy and Rostki on 3rd September 1944 (Belostok Oblast) Lieutenant Jakers repaired a broken telephone line under enemy fire. This provided the regiment’s command with uninterrupted communications during the assault on the city of Ostrołęka and to a significant degree helped enable its capture.
In total Comrade Jakers personally repaired twenty broken telephone lines while under enemy fire.
For displaying courage and capable organisation of telephone communications, he is deserving of the Order "Red Star".
