HSU Samokhin M1943 tunic

Really nice M1943 parade dress tunic for Colonel-General Samokhin, Hero of the USSR, and two time Ushakov holder (#2 and #38).

He was made a Hero of the USSR for his leadership of the Baltic Fleet air arm during WWII.

He did not wear the HSU on this tunic as he was not made a HSU until 1945 (by which time he was wearing the M1945 Uniform).

The really odd thing about this uniform (and another example about how you can't rely on regulations all that much as practice often contradicted them) is the black velvet collar and cuffs!

The cap and belt are not his, just there for display. Would look amazing with all his awards (or at least copies!).

Thanks Rusty, I have been enjoying it myself (only for another week, then its off to its new owner when he comes back from vacation); the cuffs and collar are the most interesting, in the black velvet. I have had this twice before, on an M1943 tank marshal and an M1945 tank marshal that went though my hands(but for those, black velvet on the collar and cuffs is regulation). DougD

That is a great looking tunic. It is nice to be able to see the different variations to high end uniforms. I have a 2 star naval aviation tunic like this - without the felt cuffs - and the quality is just amazing all around and this looks to be no exception. I hope the new owner of this enjoys it. Plus add on the fact that it has provenance and that is one rare tunic. Clete

tunic

On its way to its new home; i enjoyed playing with it while i had it. The cuffs really came out well.

In the right light you could see the outline of the orders on the breast.
