Being in offensive battle, in the staff of 599th Rifle Regiment Comrade Salko commanded a Rifle Platoon 21st July 1944 after artillery preparation was given the order to advance upon a farmstead "Karveon" leading to the town Nitsala 14 kilometres, providing a breakthrough of the front edge of enemy defences and formation on the river mastering the farmstead "Karveon". Comrade Salko with his platoon attacked the farmstead and active formation at the river and he and his unit captured 65 German soldiers and two officers. Salko was seriously wounded in the wrist of the right hand.
