m1945 Naval Tunics

Guys,

Are these good? Are they 1945 or post 1945?

What branches are they?

What should they be worth?

I'll be getting Doug D's book soon but wanted some opinions on these...

Feels weird knowing nothing about the subject matter! :banghead

Huligan,

They look good to me. First one is for technical/engineering service (can't tell precisely, I don't have my references handy) and not very common with the silver thread and the cartouches on the cuffs.
Second one looks a bit weird to me. Boards with red piping could be artillery but lack branch insignae and are on a full naval suit. If it were so, if should also have the drums on the cuffs instead of the anchors.
Regular naval officers' suit such as these go for about $600 in St Petersburg, but that is when you find them, they are not the most common these days.

tunics

Marc is correct, the first tunic is naval-technical service jr officer. Its a nice example. The second one is a problem; it is a line officer tunic and should have regular line officer boards; the boards here are for naval land service; if the tunic was for that then it would need red piping and cuff bars, not anchors.

Doug & Marc,

So is the 1st tunic a 1945 or later example?
How do you tell?

Thanks!

Rusty.

Rusty,

Both are 1945 "Parad Pobiedy" models that were used until the 1954 reform.

Marc,

Thanks! I'll contact the seller and get the 1st one.

I guess the stamps inside should tell me a better story once I get it...

Thanks again!

Rusty.

tunics

Rusty,

unlike the army examples, its very tough to tell if the naval tunic is 1945 or later.

I'll post some pics once I receive it...

I got a deal on it, I hope... $350 shipped.

Does this hat go with this tunic?
What belt do I use with it?

I need to find the pants for this tunic too, or the mannequin might feel naked :yow

Thanks!

Rusty.

cap

The cap you posted is for senior officers ( brim decorated); you need one with no brim decoration and with silver cap insignia.
