Ribbon Bars.
So far the only evidence I have for this are the ribbons found in Soviet ribbon bar groups.
In this well travelled parade attendee's group, the normal "Brotherhood in Arms" medal ribbon is last in the next to the last row: BUT!!! :nono In THIS group, notice the presumed 2nd Class in the last row, next to last between the 1986 Revolutionary rmed Forces 1986 jubilee and the R.A.F. "Servicio Distinguido"-- I have multiple ribbon bars to the same two generals above, and the ribbons are consistent with both. The "2nd Class" ribbon is in Soviet material and not the usual "lawn furniture strapping" type Cuban ribbon weave material. On the 20 ribbon bar, I am assuming from location that the first ribbon in the last row is the Order of Ernesto Che Guevara 3rd Class, while the last ribbon in the next to last row (a Soviet Order of the Red Banner ribbon which has had narrow blue stripes added on all three of this officer's bars that I have to represent SOME award with unobtainable spare ribbon) I am also guessing from the colors and placement to be something as yet unknown Cuban. Close up of the array of foreign awards after the last Soviet one : 1981 Mongolian Jubilee for the armed forces, an absolutely hopeless to identify plain red ribbon, and a Soviet Order of the Red Banner ribbon which has been made to fill in for the ribbon bar of an unidentified award by having blue stripes affixed to it. Bottom row has what MIGHT (???) be the Cuban Order of Ernesto Che Guevera 3rd Class (on all three ribbon bars, this ribbon and only this ribbon glows under blacklight, as Russian-made ribbons do not), then Cuban 1986 Jubilee Medal for the armed forces, an as-yet-never seen Cuban Brotherhood in Arms Medal 2nd class (this ribbon being the sole evidence of the existence of such that I have seen), and the lowwwwwwwwly Cuban Armed Forces "Distinguished Service"Medal: Any help in definitively identifying that last ribbon in the next to bottom row, and first ribbon in the last row would be most appreciated! |

Re: The wearing of decorations and ribbon bars
Thanks Vic!!!
Now that is really interesting! Great information, the first evidence that medal bars were/are worn. Are there any more colour plates in the manual? Regards Eddie.

Re: The wearing of decorations and ribbon bars
Another nice bar =)
Your first one is still causing me problems though lol. Although it seems the only match, why is the green faded on that one and not on the others? Isn't the bar too old to include a relativley recent medal on it? Regards Eddie
