Help with NKVD uniform

I just picked up what I believe is a NKVD boarderguards tunic. I am new to collecting uniforms so any help would be great.

Where would the stamp be? What is the proper way to store it? Any reference pics would be great. Thanks for looking!:thumbsup

If you need more pics let me know.

I don't know much about storage, but it would be nice to see it on a mannequin!
Looks to be in good condition too. :) Very nice uniform.
Check under the buttons, there may be a date there. :D

re: Help with NKVD uniform

stamps could be in several places.

1. inside the tunic
2. under need the frond pocket flaps
3. on the underside of the boards

let me know if you find any there ,, and get a picture of it.

the back of the buttons normaly has a 2 digit date on them.

Usually, on gymnasterka, the stamp is on the lower part, inside.

To me, it has the signs of a tunic purchased from a certain "Auction" house on-line; "wound stripes", field board, etc. Each person has their own opinion: I am not sure that it is what the seller claimed it to be.

Perhaps it´s not fake, but just a put-up set. Just as Doug, I also suspected when I saw the wound stripes.

BTW, I´ve never seen shoulderboards damage on the first two tips near their buttons. May this be a false "weathering" made by some inescrupulous dealer or just that I´ve never seen such ones?

Well, this is interesting. I never knew what those "little flags" were above the pockets until I read this and realized you guys were using the word wound as damage done to the body and not the past tense of wind (which is another homonym). Cool, I learned something today.:thumbsup

Re: Help with NKVD uniform

I would not assume the wound stripes on the tunic that started this thread are actual Red Army issue. I would bet that they are made of the same material as the tunic itself.
