Andreas,

That would not not be the very first error found in this book... :D

I am guessing it could be an error in the serial number or in the order booklet or a case of misreadin the serial number.

Red Star Prices

Last week I realized that I haven't looked at prices in a while and was pleasantly surprised to see a simple 3mil Red Star clear $100 on eBay.

What are the going rates for semi-rare stars?

Like numbers under 20,000
Under 100,000
Screw-Post base
Afgan Stars
ETC...

Thanks!

Rusty

I think you have a two tiered pricing system, not only for Red Stars but all awards, one from dealers to collectors, and the other from collector to collector, and various points between. That being said, these are the ranges I have seen and paid recently;

- screw post base, 800 to 1500+
- numbers <20,000, 1000 to 2000+
- numbers <100,000, 350 to 1000

Then we have the prices paid at a recent auction. . .
Just my 2 rubles worth. . .

DANG!!!!!!!!! No wonder the prices are going up. Guess I will be soon becoming a dealer instead of a collector.

I still love this simple yet powerful award. This was the only award I never parted a single example of...

Looking at todays prices, I might sell a few lower numbered ones to re-invest in higher numbered awards. To me the only thing better than 1 Red Star is 15 or 20 more for the price of that single one!

There's a screwpost base RS that was listed on eBay and I'm patiently awaiting to see what it will fetch before I make a move.

During the past 6 months or so I bought the first two from a dealer and the last one on E.

96xxx 220 $
106xxx 185 $
115xxx 120 $

I think many red stars on E sell for more than they are worth. Too many people that just must have them now. I also collect japanese orders and medals and last summer there were people buying a certain order for over 1k but now people don't buy them even though they cost less than 600. If collectors have a lot of money and want a big collection fast then anything can happen.
