Belorussian Partisan Veteran Documents
Attached are two photos for documents issued by the Belorussian SSR to partisan veterans. The lowest serial-numbered document (037907) and highest (418872) I've encountered to date are posted here. These documents are neat because they mention the period of participation, unit, and often duty position of bearer.
I welcome any additions as I'm considering an update an update to the Soviet Partisan Documents article I wrote for JOMSA in 2000. For those interested, 037907 was issued 14.3.88 to Laput, Grigorii Fadeevich who fought as a private in the "S.M. Kirov Detachment, "V.I. Stalin" Brigade operating in the Baranovichi Oblast 1.4.44-6.44. 418872 was issued in August 1973 to Sokolovskii, Roman Ignatevich who was a messenger in the "Invincible" Partisan Detachment, Lenin Brigade 5.5.43-12.7.44. |

Re: Belorussian partisan document.
Resurrecting old threads...why not. :)
"Ivan Fedorovich Salenik took part in the partisan movement during the period of the Great Patriotic War from January 5 1944 until July 20 1944, as a: Private of troop "Bolshevik" in the Brigade "Stalin." The document was awarded in 1969; please see upper left of the book where the doc is stamped "badge awarded." It's sometimes thought that the badge in my photo was contemporary to the doc, but I believe the badge was a much later vintage: 1989-1991 or so. I will do some research on this and report back. Re: Belorussian partisan document.
I'll admit my assertion is not conclusive, but I've seen many times more docs than these particular badges.

Re: Belorussian Partisan Document.
That's my theory too. I believe the original issue was just the doc, the badge came much later.

Re: Belorussian Partisan Document.
I believe that is the general consensus. These Documents just indicate that the named was an active Partisan participant. Almost all Veteran/Participant award Badges came with a preprinted boilerplate document stating "X has been awarded X". The Badge seems to be a more recent afterthought with the "Badge Awarded" stamp. The "Badge Awarded" stamp can also be found in use in Diplomas where the graduate got their rhombus or diamond.

Re: Belorussian Partisan Document.
Nikolai Yakovlevich Milto was a private in the partisan brigade "Chekist". ID issued in 1980.
The surname is surprisingly common, but there's only one Nikolai Yakovlevich Milto on podvignaroda awarded OPWII'85 - I think it's the guy, as the birthdate of 1927 indicates someone who probably was too young for the regular army. It also fits the photograph - the guy seems to be rather in his 50's than 60's. |

Soviet Belarus Partizan Award Documents
i am new to collecting Soviet WW2 period documents. I have seen several Soviet Partizan award documents from Belarus on Ebay and I have purchased two. Are they considered authentic documents? Thanks.

Re: Soviet Belarus Partizan Award Documents
Welcome to the forum. If you are referencing the documents of the type above, they are all post-war, not "Soviet WW2 period documents." There are LOTS of fakes out there so buy from a trusted seller. You have not included any examples of the eBay docs to which you refer so comment is difficult.
