What does the "S K Sheksna" mean?

I think, that it is a basketball team as the current team is "FK Sheksna Cherepovets"

Would the plant have had it's own basketball team? Was basketball popular in the USSR?

If you think about it there are many "Lokomotiv" sports teams out there.

Thinking along those lines, are perhaps the "Dynamo" teams old Electrical power plant teams?

Being the bufoon that i am, i just looked on the back of the pennany and there is a picture of a basketball and a net. Slight giveaway!

There are English League Football Teams that continue to have their "shop floor" names if only in the case of nicknames.

Sometimes the most obvious thing in the world isn't even noticeable until something nudges you (that's why we have fire alarms?).
