Russian song about awards
An old Russian friend was telling me about a WW2/post-war song that goes something like this: a girl tells her man she will marry him if he earns an order in the war. He comes back with a medal. Not quite good enough, but the girl takes him anyway. Happy ending
![]() Anybody know which song I'm talking about? (My retelling isn't great, sorry.) Thanks, ![]() Alex |

Re: Russian song about awards
It's probably "Don't Cry, Girl" which won 1971 Song of the Year award. The song includes a couplet:
Our company Sergeant Has orders, I've got it all ahead of me, But you, love, accept Excellent badges Which are crowded on the chest. |

Re: Russian song about awards
Maybe wrong, because I have never checked the lyrics, but the story somehow makes me think of "On the sunny glade". I currently don't remember if this was soviet song or imperial russian, but it was quite often performed by the Alexandrov Choir.
