Re: Orders for a uniform
Thanks Jeff!!! I was afraid of that. There are 4 racks of medals. Not a problem. I'll match up the holes I can. Although a rack of ribbons sounds tempting.

Re: Orders for a uniform
I'm sticking with the outlines and indentations of the awards that were on the uniform. They are an ORS, OPW I or II & Order of Suvorov I'm guessing that it would be a III Class. I've found a place to get a good copy of the Suvorov but I have other bills to pay. Soooo, it will have to wait.

Re: Orders for a uniform
Are you sure? The medic had an Order of Suvorov? Hard to believe.

Re: Orders for a uniform
Additional from Status of Order of Suvorov:
“Honored with Order of Suvorov can be commanders of Red Army, who perfectly organize combat operation with glory in battle”. According to that, doctor are not able to get this order. |

Re: Orders for a uniform
This criteria for the 3rd Class is straight from this website:
3rd Class-Established 29 July 1942. Awarded to regimental commanders, their chiefs of staff, and battalion and company commanders for outstanding leadership, organizational ability, and perseverance leading to decisive victory in battle. I have research on a Colonel of Medical Service who was awarded the Kutusov III Class. It's criteria is the same if not more restrictive: 3rd Class-Established 8 February 1943. Awarded to regimental, battalion, and company commanders and to regimental chiefs of staff for initiative displayed in combat operations which inflict severe losses on an enemy as the result of a sudden and daring attack. So, based on the criteria this officer could have received the Suvorov based on: "battalion and company commanders for outstanding leadership, organizational ability, and perseverance leading to decisive victory in battle." :thumbsup:thumbsup Doc |
