Hello comrades! Today I am proud to share with the community the very special jubilee medal I received from Russia today. It is the medal for 70 years of victory in the Great Patriotic War. This is the official medal awarded to all surviving veterans. The medal I received also came with the original document (no name written inside). It's a real beauty!! This jubilee medal has the most bling of all the GPW jubilee medals I have seen! I wanted to honor the victory over Nazi Germany, and this medal was something I really wanted! Does anyone know what the medal is made out of? Is it silver plated brass and enamels? It is VERY shiny. But I suppose it's shiny because it's brand new XD. I mounted the medal to my uniform, seemed appropriate!

OK, so that one is the official. But there seems to be a plethora of "official", how about this one? I hate when they issue 3-4 different medals for the same thing, it makes life hard for us collectors - not to mention all organizations who issue their own medals and state awards for 55 years of Victory etc etc.

This is one of the "tourist specials" unfortunately. There is only the single design of the state awarded Jubilee Medal.

Time to start celebrating V-E/Victory Day + 70 Years I think.

A variant or fake?

This is the most blatant of the fakes. The ring is off centre from the ray of the star. There are other fakes but the off centre ring is the quickest and easiest tell.

RedSamurai84's example and document is also a fake. All official documents have a different, more subdued picture of the award and a serial number.

She was born in Koshevatoe, Tarascha Region, Kiev Oblast in 1923.
