Man, you sure are sharp eyed :D OK, I'll play it level with you all guys. I posted in fact the reverse from #128, but the obverse if from # 78, as I did not have (IMHO ;) ) a good enough scan of of obverse of #128. So, in order to please everyone (what a nice guy :D ), I'll post both #78 AND #128. And as far as I know, #128 is the same one that was pictured in Kutsenko's book. Marc |

Even for a while, Yiddish was an official language of the SSR. I note that Yiddish was used in the emblem from 1937 until the 1950's emblem was made.

Re: Order "Red Banner Of Labour".
ZScout is spot on about the Yiddish language in the BSSR. Old Belarusian also could be written in Cyriliic or Latin script. Various language reforms happened in the early days of the Soviet Union that increasingly brought Belarusian closer to Russian. The state emblem of the BSSR did have 'Workers of the World Unite' in Yiddish (the most spoken language in Minsk at the turn of the century) but this was removed in the 50's, not out of any anti-Semitism but simply in acknowledgement of the fact that Belorussian Jewry had been all but wiped out during the war.
