Naturally, that isn't a Komsomol badge, it's a Young Octobrist (Октября́та) badge. Was for children too young to join the Young Pioneers.

He's a little easier to recognise in this one. I believe it's an Octobrist group-leader (not sure what the right title is) badge, but I'm not sure whether someone told me that or if it's just speculation on my part.
