Thanks guys for the ID and info.
Marc....as a knowledge point, since I don't anticipate handling a real one anytime soon for comparison, what are the keys to look for in this piece as a copy....
many thanks

Hello all

please take a look at this one, what do you think. Can it be real?

Thank you
Martin

Re: Fake Republic Orders

The red enamel is almost certainly replaced (as is the white?) and both the washer and screwback plate (washer) are not original issued items. These pieces were not very hearty and if the piece were real and the enamel took that much beating, I wouldn't expect to see all the ends of the torch and flag pole still intact. The serial number and thickness of the screw post don't seem right either. Without examination of either the PDM certificate or the item itself, I would be leery of this piece.

Hi!
I bought this piece about 20 years ago from a militaria dealer in the south of Sweden. I didn't know what it was back then and neither did the seller. He used to go to former soviet republics to buy stuff and for some reason he ended up with this. I thought it was a nice piece so I bought it. Didn't pay much. It's very well made in my opinion and it looks old.
Of course I know it can't be anything else than a copy, just wanted to show it.

Re: Fake Republic Orders

I had my doubts when looking at the obverse but with the second picture, I'm pretty sure it is:thumbsdown

Sorry :(
