Re: Fake Jubilee & Anniversary Medals
My guess would be "wear". Wear to the medal itself and wear to the die that struck the medallion in the first place.

Re: Fake Jubilee & Anniversary Medals
Sergio, Eric,
Wear has nothing to do here. There were two distinct master dies for this medal, that is all. Have a look at the Mondvor site, you'll get the explanation. Marc |

Re: Fake Jubilee & Anniversary Medals
Thank you for the advice, Marc. I was sure that the two medals were different and originated from different sources. Good to learn that the this is a known fact and both medals could be original.
I tried to translate the russian text both in Italian and English by using a web service (...) but still I had difficulties. I understand it confirms the possibility that different dies exist, causing "These differences [that] are most pronounced in the study of race and buttonhole on the coat of Stalin. Эти различия наиболее заметны при изучении погонов и петлиц на кителе Сталина." (Now, it is not clear to me what a study of race is). Nevertheless, Mondvor says, "it remains an open question". ciao sergio |

Re: Fake Jubilee & Anniversary Medals
I am guessing this is the computer way of translating "погоны". LOL! This means shoulder boards.

Re: Fake Jubilee & Anniversary Medals
Hi!
I'm being offered an XX RKKA medal for 1350$ together with it's document. Based on it's condition/possible originality, I'd like to hear your comments on whether it's a good bargain. Thanks in advance. Vadim B. |

Re: Fake Jubilee & Anniversary Medals
From these pictures I don't see any problems, but I am clueless about the price.

Re: Fake Jubilee & Anniversary Medals
Seems OK to me, but I'd like some confirmation on this one... :)
Sorry for the bad pictures, but this is what the auctioner sent me. Regards, Stah |

20 year anniversary RKKA
This is the 20th anniversary medal of the RKKA, but I'm not sure if there is a seperate catagory for it. As with most of the medals I have here, they all seem authentic, but I need to be sure this one is too.
What do you think? Does it look good? Mike |
