Half a joke, but I suspect that some members will want to award theme self this medal...

This medal is not a joke. It was struck on order of a group in St Petersburg (don't remember who exactly, I believe the ones issuing the magazine "St Pertersburg Collector"), which issues them for achievements in the development of the field of collecting and collectors' knowledge.
The medals are numbered; Igor Pak was awarded one of these.

I know some US base collecting groups (OMSA for sure) have their own medals awarded to group members for long service or outstanding contributions to the hobby. This seems along the same idea as that program. Thanks Clete
