That's why I have asked for complete scans - most likely the original information was bleached out from the booklet and fake entries added.

Colleagues,

It's official now - the awards have been added to the group.

Yesterday I talked to another collector who bought this group last year and ran research. The research confirmed that some awards have been added.

Were any of the award notations original, or had they all been bleached out and rewritten?

Also, which awards were added post-facto? Just the LS ORB, or did the research indicate that maybe a couple of those wartime-serial numbered awards also belonged to someone else?

Is there any indication that photo was somehow faked/added later also? It doesn't seem to match the usual head-on "mug shot" aspect often seen in such photos.

Did you get a copy of the research that the other, previous owner-collector had done on this?

I think knowing a bit more about how it was done would be helpful for us all in identifying these in the future.

I guess if one collector proved it was a made-up set, that information would surely have been passed to the dealer. If so, is this a case of the dealer knowingly committing a mortal sin? Like in so many legal statutes, "intent" is often a very important factor.

I don't know all the details of the research, as I lost any interest in the group upon reading members' comments and learning the group was a put-together.

Previous buyer is a member of this forum, he can contribute more details if he wishes.

As for the seller, to sell the group with the knowledge it's not really a group - it's not just a mortal sin, it's an outright fraud!
