4th April Merit Order.

Hi all,

I just wanted to show you the only Hungarian award which was designed by a woman. This is the Award of the 4th April - 2466 were issued between 1984and 1990. Designed by Viktória Csucs.

If you need any reference on Hungarian orders and medals, just let me know. Last year a comprehensive book was issued in Hungary, it tells everything.

Greetings to all from Budapest, Sandor

And a nice looking medal it is :)
Welcome to the forum!! and I hope you find the site interesting.
Thanks for the offer of reference on Hungarian Orders and Medals its much appreciatated. Please feel free to post any interesting Orders and Medals you have in your collection here.

Április Negyedike Érdemrend or Merit Order of the 4th April I think is the full name of this award.

Best regards Eddie.

4th April

Hallo Eddie!

Danke für die nette Worte! Bin sehr froh, dass ich diese Webseite gefunden habe.

Thanks Eddie for your kind words. I find this website really great and very interesting.

Yes, the full name of this order is Április Negyedike Érdemrend. I think this is the most beautiful Hungarian award of the communist period. They were awarded every year on the 4th of April, commemorating the 1945 liberation of Hungary by the Red Army. You see on the front the Statue of Liberty (yes, we too do have one ;) ), which stands in Budapest.

Salut Sebastien!

Je suis heureux de faire ton connaisance!

The book is: Nagy magyar kitüntetéskönyv (Big Hungarian Book of awards), written by Péter Bodrogi, József Molnár and Sándor Zeidler, the doyens of the Hungarian award collector community. If you need any reference, just drop me an email (hunmolnar@freemail.hu) or send me a private message.

I will show you some more pieces of my collection in the next few days, I guess Hungarian orders and awards are not very often seen.

Best regards to all, Sandor
