Deputy Badges.
Meanwhile, the rest of Moldavia issued a badge for People’s Deputy with the new Blue/Yellow/Red flag without hammer and sickle (and lacking symbols of Sovietology was not included in Mekhonoshin). Note also: Latin characters were reintroduced and the badge is in the Latin alphabet.
First picture Subseqently, on 23 May 1991, Moldavia (the Moldavian SSR) transformed itself into the Republic of Moldova, and after the failed putsch, on August 27, 1991, declared autonomy/sovereignty. In recognition thereof, is the final flag for Republic of Moldova. And this badge is also in Latin alphabet/characters. Second picture |

Moldovan deputy badge
This is obviously a relatively new production. My question is who would have given it up to sell so quickly? Which then begs the question, was it ever issued? I don't see any number on the reverse (if they numbered the issued ones).

Re: Moldovan deputy badge
A couple of things to consider here, Phil:
1. These aren't made by a State-controlled mint as the Soviet model was, hence no real control over production. 2. Not made of precious material- brass vs silver. 3. No number so you can't track the owner. My guess... a production over-run, sold "out of the back door" of the company that made the badge. This kind of things happens all the time.

Re: Moldovan deputy badge
Greg, that's kind of what I was getting at in my sardonic sort of way. The factory probably made enough of these in one run to last the government for a few hundred years. So who's going to miss a few dozen here or there?
Thanks, Phillip
