Law on State Decorations of the CR
Of 9 July 1994
157/1994 Coll .

Parliament has passed the following Act of the Czech Republic :

§ 1
( 1 ) or the award bestowed state awards of the Czech Republic ( hereinafter referred to as " honors " ) appreciates individuals become their outstanding civil merit to build a free democratic society , the work , the efforts of homeland defense , and other exceptional heroic deeds .

( 2 ) Awards are awards and medals.

( 3 ) Orders are a higher form distinctions; give the citizens of the Czech Republic and shall be granted to those who are not citizens of the Czech Republic .

( 4 ) Medal of Honor is a lower form , shall be granted .

§ 2
Establishing the Order of the White Lion as the highest honor persons who are specially made ​​excellent contributions to the Czech Republic .

§ 3
Establishing the Order of Tomáš Garrigue Masaryk as honors persons who have made ​​excellent contributions to the development of democracy , humanity and human rights .

§ 4
Establishing the Medal of Honor for heroism as a people for heroism in combat and honors of those who with their own lives contributed to the saving of human life or substantial material values ​​.

§ 5
Establishing the Medal of Merit honors as people who contributed to the state or territorial self-governing unit .

§ 6
Details on Decorations in § 2-5 and their conferment and award governing their statutes , which are listed in Appendix . 1-4 and are part of this Act.

§ 7
The right to confer and grant awards is for the President of the Republic , if they appoint to the other authority.

§ 8
Proposals for imparting or honors presented to the President of the Republic of Deputies , the Senate and the government , the president can confer or grant awards without such a proposal.

§ 9
Honors granted or conferred by the President of the Republic may submit on behalf of the person authorized by him .

§ 10
Honored assume insignia and honors certificate on the conferment or grant . If lends or gives honors citizens of the Czech Republic in memoriam , assume Bereavement instrument conferring the Order of conferring honors and in case of award of medals and insignia honors list of honors . If the honors awarded to the person who is not a citizen of the Czech Republic in memoriam , survivors assume insignia and honors list of honors .

§ 11
( 1 ) Insignia honors is entitled to wear the decoration.

( 2 ) After the death of holder of the Order - a citizen of the Czech Republic - numbered insignia Procedure returned to the Office of the President . After the death of a person winning medals or after the death of holder of the Order who is not a citizen of the Czech Republic , medals and insignia remain an instrument of honors survivors . If no survivors , returning the Office of the President .

( 3) The distinction which the final court decision punishable by loss of honorary degrees and awards, it shall return borrowed or granted Decorations Office of the President .

§ 12
( 1 ) Orders , crosses and medals and other decorations are worn in the following order :
a) Order of the White Lion ,
b ) Order of Tomas Garrigue Masaryk ,
c ) Czechoslovak Orders,
d ) foreign orders in the order of classes and the order in which they were granted,
e ) Medal for Heroism ,
f ) Medal of Merit ,
g ) Czechoslovak crosses, medals and other decorations ,
h ) Foreign crosses, medals and other decorations by degrees, and the order in which they were granted.

( Two ) The dress code can wear miniature medals .

§ 13
Terraced days for conferment and award honors under this Act are citizens of the Czech Republic 1 January and 28 October .

§ 14
Repealed Act . 404/1990 Coll . , The State Decorations of the Czech and Slovak Federal Republic , with the exception of § 16 and 18 , and Government Regulation . 35/1986 Coll . , The Medal for heroic and honorable title of Merited worker of Fire Brigades .

§ 15
This Act shall take effect on the date of its publication .
