12-7-43 whilst moving to the place of objective, 9th Rifle Company during occupation of the height was under a hurricane of heavy enemy shelling. The company laid down, enemy continued shelling. Comrade Grigor'ev seeing that there are wounded risking his own life crawled to them and carried back, under fire 15 wounded fighters and junior commanders, then upon a cart brought them to the sanitary platoon.

12-7-43 in the direction of Belgorod, during an approach to an objective, the enemy opened a heavy fire, injuring many fighters. Comrade Grigor'ev, again succeeded alone not as cook but medic. He bandaged and delivered to the sanitary platoon 10 people, of them 3x mid-level commanders, whereupon he returned to his directed responsibilities.

Although he has a very common name it would seem as though there is yet another missing piece.

The citation for his missing Medal "For Bravery".

"Assistant Platoon Commander, 2nd Rifle Battalion, Senior Sergeant Grigor'ev Petr Grigorevich, for during the battle for the town of Kasplja, was first to burst into the town, silently entered into melee fights with the Germans and the example of courage shown in front of the others"

As this event happened some time after he received his Red Star it wouldn't be overly fanciful to suggest damage to the enamel may have been done in hand to hand combat with Germans.

Notthe first "heroic cook" story I have seen, but the first with awards for something else than delvering hot meals uder enemy fire. Also interstig how his fuctin changed to deputy platoon commander.
