Here is the Medal "For Distinguished Service To The Protection Of Public Order" (Медаль "За Отличную Службу По Охране Общественного Порядка"). Created on 1st November 1950 and awarded about 47,000 times.

Strangely this Medal has not yet been presented on the forum although there are quite a few points that make this rarer Soviet Medal less attractive to the masses.

#1 It is heavily faked.
#2 It is not military.
#3 It was not awarded for feats during the Great Patriotic War.
#4 It is not easily researchable.

The Medal was awarded for the following reasons;

For courage and dedication shown during the dismantling of criminal groups or detention of criminals;
For bold, expertly conducted actions to prevent an imminent or the disclosure of a criminal offence;
For active work to eliminate the causes and conditions conducive to crime manifestations;
For the skilful organisation of work of the internal affairs bodies and units of internal troops to protect public order and fight against criminality;
For the excellent performance of duty in the internal affairs organs, parts and units of internal troops;
For active participation in the protection of public order and for displaying courage and self-sacrifice, active in the fight against hooliganism, drunkenness, theft of socialist or personal property of the citizens, with violations of Soviet trade rules, speculation, distilling and other offences, bringing harm to society.

This is a late example awarded (Variation 3) from the 1970's until 1991.
