Marc,

Your badge is the early version (1953)
See post #4 for the initial award dates of the various styles of Graduation badges.

Regards Eddie.

You can add WAM here - Wojskowa Akademia Medyczna - Military medical academy.
As for ASG - I don't know the dates, but for some periods it was also called AON - Akademia Obrony Narodowej (National Defence Academy)
I am no specialist (I collect only polish uniforms from 50's and 40's), so unfortunately I cannot help much here...

Re: Polish Graduation Badges

Hello everyone,

I have the same badge that is pictured in post #8, I was wondering if anyone can identify the mint mark "W" on the reverse. I'm assuming it would be the Mennica Polska or Warsaw State Mint but the only mint mark I'm familiar with is the one I've shown below. Is it perhaps an older mint mark or another mint? Any feedback would be appreciated.

Joe

Re: Polish Graduation Badges

Hi Joe,
I would also assume that it is the Warsaw Mint, not 100% certain though.

Regards Eddie

Re: Polish Graduation Badges

Hello everyone,

Here is a graduation badge from my collection. WOSS - Wyższej Oficerskiej Szkoły Samochodowej which I have been able to translate as Higher Officers Motor School. However, I don't know what exactly the "motor" part is referring to, does it mean transportation-logistics, automotive engineering, or automotive repair? Any help would be appreciated.

Joe

Re: Polish Graduation Badges

You can translate it as "automobile". The word "samochód" is most often translated as "car".

Re: Polish Graduation Badges

Thanks, but with reference to the school would it be an institution for designing cars or repairing cars (or both) ?
