Parachute Badge.

This badge is part of a group belonging to a Polish major that fought WWII with the Russians. I will have to do more research on this guy when i have more time. Anyway, here is his parachute badge. Can't see it on the photo but it is serial numbered on the back 5xxx range. From the documents that came with the group, I think it was given in the late 40's or early 50's

2 piece construction and a soldered on post. Got a nice curve to it.
white, dark sky blue, and dark jade green enamel
From the chip on the parachute piece, I think the base metal looks like copper. I am not sure what the base metal of the back piece.

Weight: 11g
Length: 50.5mm
Width: 22mm

Any input is greatly appreciated.

Polish parachute badge

Hello,
First badges of this designe were made and given in 1946/1947.
During the years 1946-1954 badges were manufactured in small private workshoops and since 1955 were manufactured in Governal Manufacture - they are still in use.
Your badge was made in early 50-ties.
greetings
Rafal

Polish parachute badge

Hello,
thanks a lot for the pics!
What a pity that the front of the badge is destroyed.
But it sometimes happen with this badges.
I have two similar badges in my collection starting with numbers 3xxx and 4xxx.
Thay should be dated 1950-1952.

Do you collect Polish insignia?

Best regards
Rafal

Polish badges

Well, not really.

Back in the early 90's I visited lots of fleamarkets in Germany looking for Soviet stuff. Many of the vendors were from Poland; two of them were my favorites. I tried to buy something from them every month. It just happened that this uniform from this Polish CPT was there that week. I got his hat and jacket with most of his decorations and documents.

There were lots of Polish medals/badges for sale, but I had no clue so I just stuck with the soviet stuff. If I have extra time this weekend I'll post more photos of his stuff.

Interesting paper weight.

Greetings,

Got this last weekend at the local flea market. An interesting use of the Polish airborne badge on a paper weight. The parallelogram base is made of clear plastic and all the hardware are of brass. Very nicely made.
