here is a shot of a 1943 NKGB Lt.General / Commissar. Generals of NKVD troops wore the traditional blue backed generals boards, while NKGB generals ( part of the NKVD) had this extra 'stripe' that zig-zags down the board. The tunic itself was also unique to NKGB generals.

Be on the lookout for copies! The main way is to take air force boards, use a marker to darken the blue, and pass them off as "NKVD".
