Battle of Grozny badge
I have never seen this badge before. I am told it is to commemorate the battle of Grozny during the Civil War. Can anybody confirm this or is this a fantasy piece?

Hello Dany,
to my information the badge was bestowed in 1958. To the 40th aniversary of the battle of Grozny to the survivors of the battle. In 1918 the 11. and 12. red army defend successfull the Terek area and they defend the city of Grozny which was surrounded by white troops. The city of Grozny was sieged for 100 days. After that the city was conquered by british, turkey and Denikins troops. The red army retreat. Till today I only saw one badge and I am not sure if it was a fake. regards Andreas |

Thanks Andreas. This badge is tempting me. But I'd like to have a reference for it first. I'll see if I can find something on the net.

Looks like the same one. I just can't find anything on the net on this badge.

Danny,
I could not find this badge in any of my books, but it's not a fantasy piece, and I have seen it before. Alexei |

Is it an impression? But the two badges are not exactly similar... The first posted one looks older. Could the one posted by Alfred be a later copy?

Guys,
IMHO the badges appear to be identical - the difference is in the patina and the lighting. Besides I see little commercial reason in faking it. Alexei |

The seller is asking $60 for this badge. A bit pricey. Thanks for the info.
