Protsenko, Vladimir Aleksandrovich, Electrician, 10th Tank Division/10th Air Army

Here is a rather nice, likely complete group to Vladimir Aleksandrovich Protsenko, an original, that joined a unit that had gone on a successful counter-attack against the Germans on 22nd June 1941 on 19th July 1941 and got bashed all the way back along a bumpy road to Vladivostok. Not the highest awards, but an honest group to a regular soldier of the war, that had been there and earned his stripes before becoming an officer post-war.

The sort of story that would be unbelievable without all the supporting research, but in this case we go beyond "too good to be true", whilst also showing that the best stories aren't always those that come from overburdened chests or cost the collector the world.

A pair of long service awards, a fair smattering of Jubilee Medals and no Campaign Medals - So it's all down to a pair of citations and unit history.....

His Order Booklet includes all his serial numbered awards plus his unnumbered long service Medal "For Combat Merits".

Here's the factory two weeks after the injury, it had fallen into German hands.

The "Tractor Factory"'s mythical status has been perpetuated in numerous films, documentaries, books, articles and was even the inspiration for the name of an English rock band (and yes I have seen them live).
