Unusual/rare find or bad fake?
I do not know much about what sorts of helmets were worn during the Russian Civil War, but I am certain that this is not as the seller claims: "Russian USSR WWI Helmet."
Since the civil war came on the heals of (and technically during) WWI, this could be an especially interesting piece or a classic case of a cheap fake. Because I'm not the expert here, I was hoping someone might know a little about this. Phillip

Helmet itself is probably real, but I wouldn't trust such a fanciful paint job...

I agree with Paul, the helmet looks to be an M-15 Adrian helmet which was used initially by the French and later by other countries including imperial (these ones usually have a metal imperial double eagle on the front) and soviet Russia. I not seen such a complex design for the star before.
Plainer stars are very common as per attached. I shall be interested to hear what the head-wear experts have to say. Simon |
