White participating in the Patriotic War from June 1941 through 12 April 1943, Black Sea Fleet Armored Cutter Navigator Ivan Makarovich Shmakov accomplished a series of the Command’s combat missions.
While conducting an amphibious landing on 12 April 1943 for the city of Povorosiisk he was seriously wounded and as a result is in medical rehabilitation at the present time.
Armored cutter navigator I.M. Shmakov is deserving of the BRAVERY MEDAL.

Summary of Doctor’s Evaluation
On 23 May(?) 1943 a doctor assessed Ivan Makarovich Shmakov as having been wounded in a bomb blast 12 April 1943 on the North Caucasus Front resulting in a shrapnel wound to his right temple and his left ear having been torn, thus as a result for at least the next six months was ineligible for military service.
